Frank Binder

Dr. Frank Binder is VP, Head of Global Supply Chain Management, at Santen, a specialized pharmaceutical company focusing on Ophthalmics, headquartered in Osaka, Japan. He is based in Geneva, while reporting directly into the Osaka senior leadership. His mission is transforming Santen’s world wide Supply Chain, enabling Santen to globalize its business from its dominant position in the Japanese market, to rapid growth in Europe, Asia and Americas. His overall approach is to link the regional SCM teams into a truly global organization, and implement efficient global processes and systems, while launching new products at global level and expanding to new markets. Frank oversees a team of over 70 Supply Chain professionals, who are based in Japan, Europe and Singapore. With Santen’s rapid geographical expansion, and its portfolio consisting of mostly high volume Rx, and also of OTC products, it is Franks priority to ensure that the Supply Chain organization delivers significant value to the company, and is recognized as a key business partner to the commercial and financial organizations. Frank holds a doctorate (Dr. phil. nat.) in Chemistry from University of Berne, having done his doctoral research in physical chemistry. Managing teams and stakeholders across the world, and across very different business cultures, is one of his daily challenges; he has a multicultural background himself, and is fluent in several languages (English, French, German, Spanish, and basic Mandarin), and has significant management experience in executive roles, spanning Europe, Asia and the US.
